Motion Matters Rehab Inc. is a team of experienced Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Rehab Assistants. We design rehabilitation programs that are client centered and focus on maximizing independence and function.

Occupational Therapists

Occupational therapists are skilled professionals who help people with disabilities, diseases, or injuries to participate in activities of daily living to the best of their abilities. They help clients to work within their limitations, or to regain abilities that will increase their freedom and independence. Our occupational therapists provide support and treatment in the following areas:

  • Mobility: Wheelchair assessment and prescriptions, mobility aids, coaching and education, environmental strategies etc.
  • Wound Care: Consultation on equipment needs, specialty mattresses, elbow and heel protectors, specialty cushions, therapeutic interventions etc.
  • Self-Care: Dressing aids, reachers, writing boards, adaptive utensils, etc.
  • Memory Support: Cognitive assessments/testing, schedules, calendars, daily living checklists, visual reminders, etc.
  • Splinting: Basic splinting needs.
  • Resources: Provide information on community resources and support services specific to individual needs.

Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists are health care professionals who diagnose and provide hands-on treatment and exercise prescriptions to address movement dysfunctions. Physiotherapists plan and implement individual treatment programs to prevent physical disabilities. Our physiotherapists provide support and treatment in the following areas:

  • Mobility / Exercise Programs: Customized exercise programs, evaluation of range of motion and muscle strength, transfer assessments, individual treatment plans, baseline physical testing etc.
  • Positioning: Assessment of proper bed positioning, wedges, body pillows etc.
  • Rehabilitative Equipment: Knee braces, slings, ankle-foot orthosis etc.
  • Walking Programs: We are experienced in working in partnership with recreation and other departments to ensure a professional and successful program in a cost effective way.
  • Falls Prevention and Injury Reduction: Assessment for hip protectors, mobility aids, falls prevention strategies, environmental improvements etc.
  • Musculoskeletal Injury Prevention: We offer consultation on prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries in the workplace.
  • Graduated Return to Work Program: We can assess and create graduated return to work programs for your care staff who have suffered a workplace injury.

Rehabilitation Assistants

Rehabilitation Assistants are qualified health care professionals who work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist.

They actively assist the therapist to improve the resident’s physical and mental functioning enabling them to achieve optimal performance, thereby improving quality of life.
